The Waterloo Region District School Board (WRDSB) Information Technology team is aware of a cybersecurity concern involving php2shell, which affects web-based server infrastructure. We want to make you aware that our team is actively taking steps to identify and address any impacted systems across the school board network.

What We’re Doing

To help protect our systems and information, our team is taking steps to apply the necessary security updates. As part of this process, some school board servers, online portals and digital services may be temporarily taken offline while maintenance is underway.

These precautionary measures are intended to help ensure systems are secure before they are brought back online.

What This Means

While this work is underway, you may experience:

  • Temporary Service Outages: You may experience temporary downtime or limited access when using school board websites, student information systems, or parent portals while maintenance is underway.
  • Proactive Security: Taking servers offline is a controlled, precautionary measure to ensure that all patches are applied thoroughly before systems are brought back online.
  • Data Protection: Protecting student, parents, caregivers and staff information remains our top priority.

We apologize for any inconvenience these temporary interruptions may cause and appreciate your patience as we work to address this vulnerability. We will continue to monitor the situation and take additional action as needed.
