About

Southwood Secondary School, founded in 1962 and located in the south-west of the WRDSB’s jurisdiction in Cambridge, proudly serves the population of North Dumfries and West Galt. With a student enrolment of fewer than 1000 pupils and a square footage of 12, 500 square meters, we are uniquely positioned as a full-service high-school that offers exceptional programming in an inclusive and welcoming setting.   Our students consistently perform above the provincial standard and we provide program pathways that cater to a diverse spectrum of student interest.  Ontario Youth Apprenticeship (OYAP); Advanced Placement; Specialized High Skills Majors in Transportation and Environmental Studies; and PAL serve as only some of the examples of the wide array of academic programming we offer beyond our core and elective courses.  We welcome you to explore this website and our various subject departments for an overview of our overall programming.  We also welcome you to contact the school at 519-621-5920 for more information.

Beyond academics, Southwood is renowned for the caliber of our extra-curricular programs and the depth of our Student Activities and community involvement. From award-winning Drama and Music productions, to WCSSAA, CWOSSA and OFSSA athletics, to a wide array of school clubs and to fundraising for charitable organizations and participating in community events, we believe that as we develop ourselves, we develop community – both within the school and beyond.  We invite you to scroll through the many pages of the News and Announcements portion of this website for a fulsome overview of life at Southwood and of our students’ notable accomplishments.

Our school mascot and logo is Sully the Sabre:  Named and designed by students and seen at almost all Sabre events.  Southwood Sabres can be seen sporting the school’s red, white and green colours in the halls, in the classroom, on the fields and on the courts. Our school motto is NIHIL SINE LABORE:  Nothing without work.  We exemplify this by the daily actions of our students and supportive staff.

We welcome you to the community of Southwood Secondary School!
