Usually Route 55 St. Andrews and Route 62 Woodside serve Southwood School. With construction on Cedar St, both routes are on detour, which started just after school classes finished in June. We had hoped that these detours might be finished for the start of the school year. However our Operational Designer was out there this week, and it has been determined that construction hasn’t progressed enough to put our routes back to regular routing, yet.
During the detour Route 55 serves Southwood in only one direction. For students living in the South of St. Andrews St, if they want to take transit to school, they have the option of walking from Fourth and St. Andrews (just under 1 km), or take the bus to Ainslie Terminal, and take the next Route 55 to school, For most this will mean leaving home approximately 30 minutes earlier.
Route 62 does not serve the school at all during the detour. The closest stops are at Woodside and Victoria (approximately 700m from school), or Kent and Hillsboro (approximately 850m from school). Some students may find that taking the Route 55 might be an alternative.
At the moment, we don’t have a really clear idea when we can we put our bus routes back to normal. We do anticipate this might happen before Thanksgiving.
The attachment include two maps. The first is the routing that Route 55 St. Andrews and Route 62 Woodside will return to, once construction is done. The second is the temporary detour routings for each route.
