December 6th, 2019
Today, December 6, is National Day of Remembrance and Action on Violence Against Women. Flags at all Ontario government buildings, including Waterloo Region District School Board schools and worksites, will be flown at half-mast from sunrise to sunset.
Every year, we remember the 14 female engineering students who were murdered at l’École Polytechnique de Montréal on December 6, 1989 by an act of gender-based violence. We also commemorate the missing and murdered Indigenous women, the trans-women, and each and every woman in Canada and across the world whose lives have been harmed or lost to gender-based violence.
Join us on Twitter and Instagram to take the pledge that you do not stand for gender-based violence using the hashtag #MyActionsMatter.
