Chemsketch A program that draws molecules, names organic molecules, and provides a template with a variety of science apparati. The program is very useful for both chemistry and biology.

Open Office A program that is compatible with Microsoft Office and that allows you to read and create Word, Excel, Powerpoint and PDF files for free.

PaintNET  A free image and photo-editing program for Windows computers. It offers a user-friendly  interface with support for layers, unlimited undo, special effects, and a  wide range of other helpful tools.
